'Asarah Nissim Na'asu La-abothenu Bebeth Hammiqdash (10 Miracles were wrought for our forefathers in the Temple). All of these ten miracles occurred in order for us to learn a lesson from them which we must apply to the study of the Torah and the performance of the Miswoth (commandments).
One of the miracles was that it never happened that a man said to his friend in Jerusalem at the time of the pilgrimages "the space is too tight for me to sleep in Jerusalem". The purpose of this miracle is to show us the importance of the obligation of brotherly love between us.
The Gemara says that when there is love between two people there is sufficient room for them both to sleep on a sword, but when love is lacking even a king size bed does not have enough room to hold the two of them.
