Rabbi Ya'aqob Menashe often draws his inspiration for his Halakhoth (Halachot) and pearls of Torah from the Ben Ish Hai, Hakham Yoseph Hayyim, 'a"h. In addition, the daily bulletins include a wide variety of sources: Shulhan Arukh (Shulchan Aruch), Kaf Hahayim (Kaf Hachaim), Mishnah Berurah (Mishna Brura) and many other sources.

Praying Minha without a Repetition

Rabbi Ya'aqob Menashe
Monday, November 9, 2009/Heshwan 22, 5770
Hakhamenu z"l (our Rabbis of blessed memory) said that a man must be very particular about the Minha prayer in all its aspects, because it is a time of Din (judgement). It should be noted that the first ever prayer that was prayed was the Minha prayer by Adam HaRishon (Adam).

Rabbenu the Ari, z"l, was very particular to never pray Minha without a Hazarah (repetition), first quietly (the Lahash) and then repeated loudly, as is done during Shaharith. (It goes without saying that this requires a Minyan). He would do so even if it was quite close to sunset. Even on Friday evening before sunset, he would pray it first silently and then again repeat it out loud.
