"Much can come from the woman"

The story of Qorah and his followers reveals to us the power embedded within each one of us.

Who ignited the fire of jealousy in the heart of Qorah, an important man who reached high spiritual levels, which ended in destruction?

Who, with wit and courage, performed an act unheard of  - that of uncovering her hair in public - and prevented On Ben Pelet from joining the rebels and saved his life?

The answer to both questions is identical: his wife,

Hakham Yoseph Hayyim 'a"h relates the following story. One man dreamt of a king climbing up a very tall ladder, reaching the 500th rung, which was approximately the middle of the ladder. The next morning he went to the king and shared his dream with the king. The king instructed his servants to give him a thousand gold coins.

When the neighbor's wife heard the story of success of this man, she advised her husband: "Our neighbor who saw the king climbing halfway was granted one thousand gold coins. Go and tell the king a similar dream, but tell him that in your dream the king reached the top of the ladder. He will surely give you ten thousand gold coins."

The man followed his wife's advice. How did the king react? He commanded his servants to throw him out of the palace. Why did he do that?

The second dream meant that the king had reached the top and could now only go down, whereas the first dream, in which he had reached only half the height of the ladder, was a sign that he would continue to rise and increase his power.

Much depends on us, the women. We have an incredible power to build, nurture, and elevate, or Heaven forbid - to destroy. May the Holy One Blessed be He grant us the wisdom to be builders; builders of our homes, builders of our palaces.
